John A. “Jack” Frost, age 86, lifetime resident of the Trumansburg area, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Jack was born on November 29, 1924 in Jacksonville, a son of the late Alton J. and Gladys C. (Almy) Frost.  Jack graduated from Trumansburg High School, and later served his country in the US Army during WWII, stationed in Italy with the Army Air Corps. He graduated from RIT’s graphic arts program and worked as a printer in Ithaca until he became a vocational instructor in the Elmira Correctional Facility. He retired in 1983, and enjoyed his retirement years following garage sales, working around the family home, and spending time with his beloved family.  He was a member of the Interlaken Sportsmens Club and served one term as president.  He was a long standing member of the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770 in Trumansburg.

He is survived by a sister, Marilynn Frost of Clifton Springs,  a son, Steven A. (Susan) Frost, a daughter, Dianne (Michael Newport) Lynn, all of Trumansburg; grandchildren, Matthew (Brenda) Lincoln, Casey (Christina) Lincoln, Carrie (Shawn) Lansing, all of Trumansburg, Heather( Albert) Teng of Falmouth, ME, Shannon (Mark) Frost-Greenstein of Philadelphia, PA, Jaime (Erin) McCormick of Gerton, NC, Zachary, Aaron and Jonathan Frederick, all of Trumansburg; great grandchildren, Cody, Hunter, Kameron, Zoe, Jack, Wyatt, Tanner, Lincoln, Anabelle and Cole; Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma in 2008.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street in Trumansburg, with Words of Reflection by the family to be held at 7:00pm at the funeral home. Prayers of committal with military honors will be held at 5:00pm on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Arthur E.
