Walter W. Furman died April 8, 2011 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY, after a brief illness.

Walter was born March 8, 1961 in Somerville, NJ. He is survived by his mother, Anne H. Furman of Trumansburg, NY, his sister A. Christine Furman of Bellingham, WA, and his brother Simeon Furman of Alexandria, VA. Walter was predeceased by his father, James B. Furman. Walter grew up in Trumansburg and attended the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Arts in Economics from California State University, East Bay. Walter led a thought-provoking life across a range of experiences and fields, from oil exploration in Wyoming and the Dakotas, to college admissions in Ithaca. Walter was a musician, an aspiring actor, and a kind son, brother, and friend. There will be no services.
