Jean W. Tunison, formerly of Trumansburg, passed away at Cortland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the age of 87.

Born on January 20, 1924 in Ithaca, Jean was the daughter of the late Guernsey and Kathreen (Martin) Wiggins. Following her graduation from Interlaken High School, Jean received her Secretarial Science Degree from Rochester Business Institute. Jean was employed as a bank teller for Tompkins Trust Company from 1960 to 1966.

Jean’s true passion in life was caring for her family and raising her two children. She was an active member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church for many years. 

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E. Tunison on July 9, 2005 and one sister, Winifred Royce. She is survived by two children, Michael L. Tunison of Conesus and Susan (Charles) Ingalls of Dryden; five grandchildren, Michael A., Matthew, and Jennifer Tunison, all of Rochester, Nickolas Bucci of Cortland, and Kyle Tunison of Emeryville, CA; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Arline Haviland of Interlaken and Janet Stickane of Ithaca.

In keeping with Jean’s wishes, graveside services at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg will be private.
