Elizabeth D. Raymond of 4399 Seneca Rd., Trumansburg, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the age of 73.

Born March 14, 1936, Liz was the daughter of the late J Wesley and Winifred (Armstrong) Dean.  She grew up in the Trumansburg area, graduating from Trumansburg Central School in 1954. Liz then attended Albany State Teachers College before settling back in Trumansburg along with her husband of 52 years, Harrison “Hoppy” Raymond, Jr, to raise their family.  Many happy gatherings were held at Raymond pond over the years for both family and friends.

Liz was involved in many community organizations, holding offices in several of them.  She was Justice of the Peace for the Town of Covert for twenty-two years; a fifty-two year member of Trumansburg Star Chapter #479 Order of the Eastern Star – serving as past Matron and Secretary; past Matron and Member of Montour Falls Fern-Tyrone Chapter #142 Order of the Eastern Star for seventeen years; Past District Deputy of the Cayuga-Tompkins District; Secretary of the Past Grand Officers Assoc. for Cayuga-Tompkins District; Past President of Seneca County Magistrates Assoc.; Secretary of Trumansburg UMC for fifteen years, where she was a member; Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce; and Secretary of the Trumansburg Free Press.

In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her daughter, Angie Raymond, and her brother, Jim Dean.  She is survived by her husband, Harrison Raymond, Jr; sons, David Raymond of Trumansburg, and Donald (Frances) Raymond of Orlando, FL; brothers, Bruce (Dawn) Dean of Trumansburg, and Donald Dean of St. Petersburg, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved dog Sam.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey will begin at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church. An Eastern Star Tribute Service will be conducted at the church in conjunction with funeral services.  Prayers of committal will follow at West Lodi Cemetery.
