Frances W. “Midge” Snyder, age 89, formerly of Enfield, passed away Saturday, October 03, 2009 at Lakeside Nursing Center.

Born February 25, 1920 in Bath, New York a daughter of the late William “Albert” and Anna (Lyme) Way. She and her family had lived in the Brooktondale and Slaterville areas, and was a 1939 graduate of Ithaca High School. Her career spanned many years as a bookkeeper at Hull Heating & Plumbing in Ithaca for many years. Midge had been a member of the Enfield UMC, Enfield Senior Citizens and was a charter member of the Enfield Fire Dept. Auxiliary, which was instrumental in coordinating the parade details for the Fire Dept. Her memberships also included the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Auxiliary Post #770 in Trumansburg. Midge’s attention was always focused on her family, a knitting project was always underway and a sleepover at Gram’s house was always a favorite.

Midge is survived by a son, Gary Snyder and a daughter, Kathy Rumsey both of Trumansburg; five grandchildren, Michael Snyder, Michelle Neiss, Robert and Mark Rumsey and Jacqueline Phillips, great grandchildren, Sarah Dluhy, Savannah Blomker, Ayla and Chucky Neiss, Amanda, Christopher, James and Cara Rumsey. several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman “Snip” Snyder in 1992, and by her brothers, Carlton and William Way, and by a sister, Marjory Baldwin, her daughter in law Jeanne, and son in law Don.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg, NY, with the Dr. Jeff Losey of the Trumansburg UMC officiating.
