Ruth Grover Tubbs, of Jacksonville, passed from this life into the next at Guthrie Center in Sayre, Pennsylvania on Friday, November 20, 2009 at the age of 83.

Born in Ithaca, Ruth had been a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for nearly 70 years, where she was also an organist. A graduate of Cornell University, Ruth was awarded a degree in Analytical Chemistry in 1948.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 60 years, Maurice; daughter Virginia (David) Peterson; three sons, Ronald (Diane) Tubbs, Randall (Cheryl) Tubbs, and Kevin (Linda) Tubbs; 14 grandchildren; and brother, Donald Grover. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carlton.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Ithaca, on Monday, November 23 at 11:00am. Burial will be private.
