Mary C. Vander Weide, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, formerly of Trumansburg, New York, passed away at the Church of God Home in Carlisle on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the age of 94.

Born on August 17, 1914 in Paterson, New Jersey, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Kate (Bruggeman) Faber. She worked as a nurse at the All Souls Hospital in Morristown, NJ for many years. Church and music were always an important part of Mary’s life. She combined these two loves and sang with the choir for the Billy Graham Crusade and the Masterwork Chorus. Mary also enjoyed working with her hands by counted cross-stitching, knitting, and crafting. Her talent for cooking and baking delicious meals and treats will be missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Joe Vander Weide on May 8, 2005. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (Bill, Sr.) Bloom of Shermans Dale, PA; one son, Nick Vander Weide of Equinunk, PA; one sister, Irene (Daniel) Bakker of Lodi, NY; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Charles) Scott, Joe Vander Weide, and Candice Jenkins; three step-grandchildren, Beth Heller, Bill Bloom Jr., and Sara Bloom; five step-great- grandchildren, Kaylee Bloom, Colby Heller, Riley Heller, Cordell Bloom, Brodrick Bloom; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg, on Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 Main St., Interlaken on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 10:30 am. Prayers of Committal will follow at the Ovid Union Cemetery.
