Marcia W. (Wright) Keith

Marcia W. Keith of Trumansburg passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the age of 92.

Marcia was born in the Town of Ulysses on March 5, 1932, a daughter of the late Victor and Norma (Harvey) Wright. She was married to her best friend and love her life, Carl Keith on October 29, 1949. Together they lovingly raised their family and always called Trumansburg their home. Most always seen together, whether it was walking in the village, golfing, or having coffee at Shur-Save, their friendly smiles and conversations were welcomed by everyone. They showed their love and generosity every Christmas Eve as they opened their home to friends and family, making everyone feel welcome. Her Christmas rolls were treasured by all who received them and her sugar cookie recipe was perfection and remains a recipe to this day no one can duplicate.

Marcia worked for many years at Farrell-Messler Insurance in Trumansburg, retiring as the office manager. She volunteered various places in the Trumansburg community including the Gemm Shop, Tompkins County Election Inspector, Trumansburg Golf Course, and the Ulysses Christmas Bureau delivering fruit baskets. Marcia was an avid bowler holding one of the highest averages for a female bowler in Trumansburg. After the bowling alley burnt, her competitive spirit turned from bowling to golf. She is one of the few women who have a hole—in-one at Trumansburg Golf Course and almost weekly you could hear “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” being said as she won weekly golf competitions.

Most of all she loved time spent with her family hosting every holiday and pool parties.

Marcia’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Lori Joseph and her dedicated caregivers, Becky, Billie, and Taniesha. The family truly appreciates all of the love and support given to Marcia for the past several years. Also thank you for always being willing to partake in daily SORRY matches.

Marcia is survived by her children, David (Steve Simpson) Keith, Diane (Doug) Millspaugh, Debbie (Barry) Kasonic, and John (Kate) Keith; 10 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 2016; and her five siblings.

A Celebration of Marcia’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Trumansburg Golf Course, 23 Halsey Street, Trumansburg.
