Janet I. HulbertJanet I. Hulbert of Horseheads, formerly of Spencer and Trumansburg, passed away at Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the age of 70.

Janet was born in Chemung on June 2, 1944, a daughter of the late Fritz and Virginia (Weber) Osborne. She worked for several years as an inspector at Ithaca Gun before starting her career at Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department. After 21 years of service at the county jail Janet retired as a Correction Officer. 

She enjoyed putting together puzzles and spending time in her flower gardens. While relaxing, Janet could be found watching QVC, ordering a variety of goodies for herself and family. During the holidays she loved baking cookies and cooking.

Janet is survived by her husband, Elwood Hulbert; three children, Sheila Voorheis, Susie (Darryl) Griffen, and Stacy Voorheis; nine grandchildren, Zachariah, Nasyah, and Jebidiah Proctor, Danielle Mundell, Dallas Griffen, Derek Voorheis, Rachel and Ivan Shorts; two great granddaughters, Elivia Mundell and Athena Williams; two step sons, Chad and Kevin Hulbert; six siblings, Fred Osborne, Barb VanHorn, Carol Tanner, Richard Osborne, Nancy Crout, and Jimmy Osborne; special friend Nancy Smith; and many close friends, nieces, and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
