John Scott Agard of Ithaca passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on January 30, 2024 at the age of 54.
Born on November 1, 1969 in Ithaca, New York, to John William Agard, Jr. and JoAnn Miller Agard.
Scott was baptized at the Jacksonville United Methodist Church and attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church for many years.
Following his graduation from BOCES in June of 1991, Scott accepted a position at the JM Murray Company in Cortland. While working at Challenge Industries in Ithaca he made many friends. He held additional volunteer positions post Challenge.
Music was an important part of Scott's life. Whether he was playing his keyboard, strumming the guitar, or simply listening to a favorite CD the music gave Scott a sense of peace. Scott provided entertainment for his beloved house family with his music skills. He also had an appreciation for the beauty of flowers and enjoyed cooking. He was an avid reader and when it came to football, he was a dedicated Buffalo Bills fan.
As a young boy Scott participated in Cub Scout activities and continued to participate in Tompkins County Youth Bureau functions. He was a loving and kind man with a strong desire to stay close to God. And his love for others was never-ending.
He truly enjoyed traveling and especially traveling to visit his family in Virginia.
Scott is survived by his mother, JoAnn Agard of Wake, VA; an aunt and uncle, Nan and Philip Colvin of Wake, VA; first cousins, Patina (Bill) Janisko of Wake VA, Sarah (Dave) Colvin of Rochester, NY, Stephanie (Joe) Teberio of Dallas, PA, and David Agard of Ithaca, NY; and second cousins Dylan and Tanner Janisko, Kassidy and Harper Van Heusen, Nicholas Teberio, and Cadence Agard, and extended family and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his dad, John in 2023; and an uncle, Lee in 2011.
