Ann M. Swartwood

Ann M. Swartwood of Spencer passed away at home surrounded by family on August 29, 2026 at the age of 83.

She was born on May 17, 1943, in Batavia, New York, a daughter of the late Arthur and Enda (Jackson) Fleet. Ann spent many years at ISA Babcock. Beyond her work, she found joy in the simple, creative pleasures that made a house feel like home. She loved crafting, and knitting and crocheting were among the ways she showed her care for those she loved, making many sweaters for all her children. She was also a collector of all things, including, as her family fondly remembered, even dust. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Raymond (John Balmer) Swartwood; her daughter, Tammy (Mike) Hornbrook; daughter-in-law, Kendra Luhrs; grandson, Steven (Amy) Porter; great-grandchildren, Haleigh (Justin) Porter, Tyler (Alicia) VanOstrand, Garrett (Ashley) Porter, and Steven (Emily) Porter Jr.; eight great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Swartwood; her daughter, Karen Swartwood; and her siblings, June, Steve, Janet, Bob, and Simeon.

The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00pm on September 3, 2026 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A graveside service will follow that same day at 3:30pm at Frear Memorial Park, 200 Hayts Road, Ithaca.
