Elizabeth Jane Sicuro

Elizabeth Jane Sicuro of Ithaca passed away at Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the age of 70.

Liz was born on July 7, 1955, in Middletown, New York, a daughter of the late James and Theresa (Wisneski) Steele. She dedicated many years of her life to the Monticello Central School District, where she worked until her well-deserved retirement 10 years ago. But, her favorite students were her grandchildren, whom she gave lessons to not just through schoolwork, but through life.

Liz’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit; she was a devoted lover of the ocean, books, and a good fire. Her sweet and caring nature made her not only a beloved wife but also a cherished mother and grandmother.

Liz is survived by her husband, Philip Sicuro; her children, Sara (Aaron) Rovitz and Philip (Kristen) Sicuro; treasured grandchildren, Sally and Frank Rovitz and Giuliana and Luca Sicuro; siblings, Patricia Cook, Michael (Ann) Steele, James (Mary) Steele, and Lorraine (Robert) Otterbein; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by an infant brother, Garrett Steele.

A Celebration of her Life will be announced in the Spring.
