Jack F. Ellsworth Jr.

Jack Ellsworth Jr., age 89, of Hector, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on October 31, 2026.

Born in Binghamton, NY, Jack lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and deep devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Jack worked as an electrician for eight years and maintained a proud, 62-year membership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 241.

Jack went on to spend the majority of his career as the owner, along with his wife and operator of a well-known local family appliance repair business in Ithaca, NY for 50 years. Known throughout the community for his reliability, skill, and steady hand, he was someone neighbors knew they could always count on.

Above all else, Jack was a devoted family man. He shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ellie. An outdoorsman at heart, Jack loved hunting and spending time in the quiet beauty of the woods. Yet his absolute greatest happiness came from the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

Jack is survived by his wife, Ellie; his daughter, Debbie (Mike Bowen); his son, Jack (Lorie) III; four grandchildren, Erica Burns, Jack (Emily) Ellsworth IV, Sean Dylan Burns, and Robert (Kelly) Ellsworth; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Donald Ellsworth, Alice Mae VanBarriger, and Vaughn Ellsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Alice (Taylor) Ellsworth; and siblings, Patricia “Patsy” McMillian and William Ellsworth.

A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a future date.
