January 25, 1951 — March 23, 2021

Trumansburg

Jeffrey David Vann, 70, of Trumansburg, New York passed away at home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.

Jeff was born in Ithaca, NY on January 25, 1951, son of the late David and Donna (Smith) Vann. He married the love of his life, Marcia Vann, on June 27, 1981 and together they raised 3 children.

He is survived by his three children, Emily (Edwin) Foster, Jeremy (Christina) Vann, and James (Kristen) Vann; two grandsons, Paul and Matt Foster; brother, Sam (Diane) Vann; sister-in-law Stephanie Vann; and his nieces, Kristine and Laura Vann.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents David and Donna Vann; his loving wife Marcia Vann; and his brother Chris Vann.

Jeff was a life-long Trumansburg resident, graduating from the class of 1969.  He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America and became a very proud Eagle Scout.

Jeff began his professional career working as a partner with Vann-Austic Construction for close to ten years. Following that, he was employed for 33 years for the NYS Office of General Services, where he was hired as the Senior Superintendent of Construction.  Jeff also served as the Assistant Fire Chief for the Trumansburg Fire Department and was a proud member of the Trumansburg Fair Board. Jeff continued to serve as a Town of Covert Councilman as well as a chairman of the Town of Covert Republican committee for a number of years.

Jeff was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He valued spending time telling stories and teaching his children and grandchildren important life lessons. He enjoyed his days outside hunting and fishing, spending time at the Vann Family Cottage, and collecting shells with his wife in Florida.

Jeff will always be remembered as a true American who strived to do the right thing while upholding his family values and showing pride for his country. Always engaged in lively conversations, a strong willed and true to himself man that will be forever missed.

Calling Hours will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, April 1, 2021 (of course he would want it to be on the first day of trout season) at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street in Trumansburg.

A celebration of life for Jeff and Marcia will be held at a future date.

The family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Jeff’s memory to kindly consider the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
