John R. Main

John R. Main, formerly of Verona Village in Ovid, passed away at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca on Saturday, January 5, 2019, following a recent cancer diagnosis.

John was born in Ithaca on December 10, 1950, a son of Franz and Janice (Chase) Main. He was a graduate of Trumansburg High School and had lived in the area the majority of his lifetime, with the exception of a few years in California. He was a workforce supervisor at Challenge Industries and had worked as a materials handler at Shur-Save in Trumansburg.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Main of Interlaken; a sister, Cindy (Timothy) Batty of Interlaken, and a brother, Peter (Patty) Main of Florida; his nieces and nephews, Stacy (Brent Shoemaker) Main, Seth D. (Jamie) and Stephanie Batty; and good friend Vickie Teeter. John was preceded in death by his father, Franz Main in 2010.

A graveside service will be held privately at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg, and arrangements are under the direction of Ness-Sibley Funeral Home of Trumansburg.
