Lewis Stanley Vannederynen

Lewis Stanley VanNederynen of Mecklenburg passed away at Seneca View on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the age of 92.

Stanley was born on June 7, 1931 in Ithaca, a son of the late Frederick and E. Marie (Rockwell) VanNederynen.  He was a farmer and spent many years as a cattle artificial inseminator serving farms across Schuyler, Tompkins, and Seneca counties. Stanley was a member of the Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Department in the 1960s and served as a past president. He was proud of his garden, always growing enough sweet corn for the entire neighborhood. Stanley’s favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing, often tying his own fishing lures.

Stanley is survived by his children, Jane (Steve) Ike, Larry (Linda) VanNederynen, Barbara (Jeffrey) Adams, and Kristen (Mark) Wells; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon (Sandy) Roberts, Carol Rundle, and Eleanor VanNederynen; longtime friend Mary Jane Wells; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and beloved cat, Kat. In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene in 2021; son John VanNederynen in 2023; and brother Gordon in 2022.

The family will be present to receive friends on November 3, 2023, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12:00pm, followed by a burial at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
