Margaret M. Malmfelt passed away on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Beechtree Care Center. Born April 8, 1913, in Cologne, Germany, Margaret was the daughter of Nickolaus and Anna (Bayer) Ehrbar. She arrived with her family on December 26, 1923 at Ellis Island, NY and became a loyal citizen. She served her country as a "Rosie the Riviter" during World War II. Margaret enjoyed cooking for family and made the house a comfortable home with a precious collection of cuckoo clocks and Hummel figurines.
Margaret joins her husband, Albert of 49 years and her son, Peter, in heaven.
Surviving are her son, John and daughter-in-law Janie Malmfelt of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Kathleen Shields (Chad) of Charlotte, NC, Christopher Malmfelt (Melissa) of Holly Springs, NC, and Kevin Malmfelt (Jennifer) of Greensboro, NC; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Ryan, Madison, Kristen, Amelia, Meghan and Emily; and brother, John Ehrbar of Ithaca, NY. The family wishes to thank the staff for the wonderful care given to Margaret during her stay at Beechtree.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Ithaca. Prayers of Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to Immaculate Conception Church, 113 N. Geneva St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
