Mary F.  Austic

Mary F. Austic, age 84, longtime resident of Trumansburg, died at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

Mary was born in Ovid on September 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Horton) Austic. She worked in food service at various Trumansburg businesses, most recently at The Falls Restaurant and Tavern. Mary was an avid lover of crafts and handwork, and enjoyed crocheting afghans, hats, slippers…you name it. In addition, she enjoyed doing plastic canvas needle work, and would always say, “I can sell these!”, but always ended up giving them to those she cared for or donating them instead.

Mary is survived by her children; Victor (Cindy Lou) Austic of Marietta, GA, Linda Gomes of Dryden, Terry Austic and Cynthia Austic, both of Trumansburg; a sister, Cecilia Doyle of OK; a host of family and friends, including nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 3 great granddaughters, Alexis, Azumi and her name sake, Mary Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton in 2002, daughter, Barbara Austic Runyon, step son, Charles Austic, and brother, Charles Hayes.

A graveside service will be held privately at Grove Cemetery.
