Nicholas Lee Knebel, 23, passed away far too soon on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Ithaca NY. Born on November 15, 2002, in Virginia Beach, Nick brought light, music, and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Nick had a passion for music and never passed up an opportunity to go to a concert or festival, especially Bonnaroo. (He was always excited to be back on the farm!) His playlists were a culmination of his eclectic music taste, with some of his favorite musicians including Modest Mouse, TV Girl, The Strokes, Brockhampton, Jamaican Queens, and Cage the Elephant. Music was one of the many ways he connected with the world around him.
When he was not enjoying live music, he was working at Viva Taqueria, where his easygoing spirit and warm presence made him a favorite among coworkers. Nick also had a well-known love for his Grandma Hanky’s Oreo cookie cake, something he requested at every opportunity.
Gone far too young, Nick leaves behind a family who loves him immeasurably. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Terri Knebel; his twin brother, Joshua; his grandparents, Mark and Linda Dresser, Jim and Jean Richar and George and Pat Knebel; many aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored him: Aunt Kim (Bryon) Moore; Rick (Lou) Knebel; Rob (Heidi) Knebel; Chuck (Denise) Knebel; Ron (Annette) Knebel; and Matt (Michelle) Knebel. He is also survived by his cousins Keegan (Marie) Moore, Kai Moore, and many many Knebel cousins.
Services will be held privately.
Nick’s kindness, humor, and vibrant energy will be held forever in the hearts of those who loved him. His family takes comfort in the joy he brought to life, even as they grieve a future without him.
