Richard E.  Murphy

Richard E. “Dick” Murphy, 84, of 121 E. Main St, Trumansburg passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on August 23, 1927 in Hector, New York, Dick was the son of Charles and Grace Updike Murphy. A veteran of WWII, Dick enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow servicemen/women through his membership in the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770 in Trumansburg. He also worked outdoors often and traveled extensively. Dick retired from Emerson Power Transmission in Ithaca where he had been employed as a purchasing agent for many years.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by one son, Ricky. He is survived by two sons, Larry of Ithaca and Patrick of Buffalo; one niece, Janyce Fergus of Trumansburg; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. In keeping with Dick’s wishes, no public services will be scheduled.
