Richard Lawrence Stafford of Trumansburg passed away at home on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the age of 86.
Rich was born in Marathon, New York, the only child to the late Lawrence and Anna Marie (Martin) Stafford. He attended Paul Smith’s College and while there played harmonica in a band.
Rich had a broad skill set working in forestry as a surveyor before owning his own business in general contracting, specializing in electrical and plumbing. Rich relocated to Trumansburg in the 1980s. Here he found a warm and welcoming community. He developed many strong and enriching relationships. He felt himself included as part of the fabric of his new home and its distinctive character.
Rich is survived by his children, Matthew (Jaime) Stafford, Patricia (James) Hampton, and Charles Stafford; grandson, Bennett Stafford; and close friend, Katherine Conroy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Stafford.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no services.
