Samuel M. Ward of Trumansburg passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the age of 80.
Sam was born in Ithaca on August 17, 1944. He worked as a carpenter in the Trumansburg area for Willy Elder, Don Harner, Jim Stevens, and Herb Austic. He often helped out at the Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club where he was a lifetime member, South Seneca Sportsmen’s Club and Trumansburg American Legion. Sam was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
He is survived by his three children, Chad Ward, Douglas (Kim) Ward, and Brenda (Thomas) Stevens; three grandchildren, Dusty (Jim) Snyder, Kayla (Jake) Grosz, and Talon Stevens; three great grandchildren, Wynter Snyder, Chelsea Grosz, and Willow Snyder; three siblings, Larry Ward, Ralph (Bev) Ward, and Nancy Ward; cousins, David (Ruthann) Knapp and Donnie (Jill) Knapp; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth and Alfred Ward; mother, Ethel Ward; aunt, Alice Ward; and brothers, Bob and Jim Ward.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the American Legion Post 770 in Trumansburg.
