Trumansburg

Susan A Weaver, 85, daughter of John and Blanche Harding, wife of Lee E. Weaver, passed away on April 6, 2026 with her family surrounding her with love after a brief illness.

Susan was born in Covert in the home she grew up in. She was the eighth of ten children growing up in rural Covert. So you can imagine that household! Susan attended Trumansburg School and graduated in 1958.

Susan started her family in 1959. She raised four children; Hal, John, Barbara and Scott in Jacksonville, Mecklenburg, and finally back in Covert when she married Lee.

Susan worked at Cornell University for 31 years, rising to supervisor in the Life Sciences Department. She had been an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 770 for 58 years. She met and forged many relationships through her involvement. One of the relationships that was made was the love of her life, Lee. She and Lee have has 53 years of an amazing life.

Raising children, not all of them their own, as their home was always open to those that needed a soft landing. Traveling, when time permitted until they retired when they could go when and where they pleased.

They were the best team cheerleaders for their grandchildren. Many afternoons were spent at soccer games and evenings at plays and concerts. Their grandchildren will always be grateful for their involvement.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Wava Blake, Mary Temple, Ann Harding, and Ronald Harding; and bonus son, Patrick Richar.

She is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Hal (Deb) Goldsmith, John Goldsmith, Barbara (Fred) Liske, and Scott (Rebecca) Goldsmith; grandchildren whom she adored, Becky, Melissa, Heather, Sara, Samantha, Andrew, Jake, Matthew, Alexia, and Nicolas; great grandchildren, Kori, Cole, Jairus, Logan, Corbin, Lawson, Cannon, Laken, and baby girl coming soon to join the tribe; siblings Betty Rumsey, Robert Harding, Carolyn (Doug) Duddleston, and Ken (Karen) Harding; in laws, Larry (Sharon) Weaver, Lynda Weaver, and Joyce Whitson and their families.

Per Susan’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 beginning at 4:00pm at the American Legion Post 770 in Trumansburg.
