William H. “Bill” Decker of Ithaca passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the age of 58.
Bill was born in Ithaca on July 7, 1966, the only child to Frederick and Elizabeth (Wilen) Decker. Bill was the yard manager at Lansing Harbor Marina and was a jack of all trades. He launched boats, repaired docks, welded, and crafted solutions only he could dream up—he could do it all. His steady hands and unmatched craftsmanship built more than just structures there; he helped build the community there. His work lives on in the boats he cared for, the buildings he repaired, and the countless small touches that only he could have done.
Outside of his work at Lansing Harbor Marina, Bill enjoyed restoring antique tractors, camping and boating with his family.
More than anything, Bill loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and son. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep knowledge, and the kindness he showed to all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Jamie Decker; two daughters, Nicole (Cameron) Ozolins and Katelyn Decker; granddaughter, Evelyn Ozolins; grandson Jackson “The Boy” Decker; mother, Elizabeth Decker; and life-long friends Joe Miller and Bill Reeves; his Lansing Harbor family (Steve Williams, Alioune “Ra” Sy, Mrs. Roni Bronson, Auston Eldred, Marty Williams, Greg Mezey, Paul Barber, Ryan Mitchell, Amber Grover, Matt Visingard, Sue and Pat Westfall, and so many more); and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Decker; brother-in-law, David Riley Jr. and brother-in-law, Jim Reeves.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at Lansing Harbor Marina, 44 Marina Road, Lansing, New York 14882 on June 14, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
