Carl Irwin Potter of Trumansburg passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the age of 83.
Carl was born in Ithaca on July 15, 1938, the son of the late Francis and Doris (Ploss) Potter. He graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in 1956. Carl worked for many years as a rural post office carrier prior to his retirement. A lifelong Trumansburg resident, Carl was an outstanding member of the Trumansburg community and First Baptist Church. In addition to all of his volunteer work, Carl loved bowling at Tri-County Lanes and playing golf.
Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Potter; four children, Marcia (Dan) Horn, Mark Potter, Jeffrey (Karen) Potter, and William (Ronde) Potter; 11 grandchildren, Jared (Kate) Smith, Juston (Chelsey) Smith, Jordan (Joni) Potter, Dustin Potter, Taylor Potter, Steven (Karrie) Potter, Nathan (Marissa) Potter, Tanner Potter, Garret Potter, Devon Potter, and Ryleigh Potter; and 3 great granddaughters, Sloane, Kenadie, and Macklyn.
The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 4443 E. Seneca Road, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the church.
