Carlton Swick Obituary

Carlton M. Swick, 90, of Trumansburg, NY died on December 28, 2021 at Schuyler Hospital after a brief illness.  He was the youngest child of Arthur E. Swick and Ilah Evans Swick, born June 23, 1931 near Reynoldsville, NY. He married Jolene L. West on October 3, 1959 in Burdett, NY.

He was self-employed as a dairy farmer for most of his adult life. He also served as president of the Jones Cemetery Association, operating the cemetery on Bower/Boyd Hill Road in Trumansburg, for nearly forty years.  He enjoyed deer hunting for many seasons, and had some good tales to tell. He was known for his warm smile and calm demeanor.

He was predeceased by his wife of nearly sixty two years, who passed just three and a half months ago. He was also predeceased by his parents, a granddaughter Melissa Swick, and his sister Mary Louise Stilwell; as well as brothers-in-law Curtis Switzer, Lou Arthur Stilwell, Mervin West, Marty West, Ray West, Robert Hover, and sisters-in-law Stella Hover and Sylvia West.

He is survived by his daughter Carlene Swick, his sons Russell Swick, Randall Swick, Dana Swick, and Alan Swick, all of Trumansburg; by grandchildren Christopher Swick, Austin Swick, Harlie Swick, and Timothy Poley, as well as several great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister Alma Switzer and by sisters-in-law Shirley West and Connie West, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home at 23 South Street in Trumansburg.  All are invited to a graveside service immediately following at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Timothy Hamilton officiating, at the Hector Union Cemetery, Burdett, NY.
