Carol Northrup Obituary

 

Carol Haflin Northrup of Trumansburg passed away on April 27, 2021 at the age of 82.

Carol was born in Willow Creek, New York on December 14, 1938, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Schell) Haflin.

Carol is survived by three children, Becky (Richard) Stilwell, Brenda (Jeff Ewing) LaDue, and Dan (Mary Ellen Smoolca) Northrup; three grandchildren, Amber and Kaleigh Stilwell, and McKenna LaDue; many nieces, nephews, and the extended Haflin and Northrup families. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Keith Northrup in 2016.

Carol was a devoted mother and wife.  An avid golfer, she enjoyed playing at the Trumansburg Golf Course with her husband, friends and family.  Her skills in both the flower and vegetable gardens were widely known throughout the neighborhood. 

Carol’s work life included many years at the Trumansburg Home Telephone Company and Lowe’s Soft Water. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren who kept her busy, young and active.   A devout Catholic, she attended St. James Catholic church in Trumansburg for many years.  

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Monday, May 3, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church, 17 Whig Street, Trumansburg. Prayers of Committal will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery in Trumansburg.  

The family asks those wishing to make a contribution in Carol’s memory, to kindly consider the local Special Olympics in support of Amber Stilwell.
