June 18, 1936 ~ August 4, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Obituary

Edith “Edie” Payne Rozelle of Trumansburg passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 4th, 2023 at the age of 87.

Edie was born June 18, 1936, in Ithaca, daughter of the late Gordon Sr. and Blanche Payne. She graduated from Newfield Central School in 1954.  For numerous years, Edie was employed at Cayuga Medical Center as a Ward Clerk/Aide.  Edie’s determination and personality dictated perseverance for living life to its fullest, especially evident after complications from medical challenges since 1995.

Edie has been a faithful servant of the First Baptist Church in Trumansburg, in which a priority of hers was maintenance of the church’s landscape for 18 years.  Edie’s goulash was a welcomed dish-to-pass at the monthly Fellowship Dinners.  Edie was also a member of the Trumansburg Senior Citizens and volunteered at the Trumansburg Food Pantry.

Edie married the love of her life, Douglas Rozelle on July 31st, 1954. Douglas predeceased Edie in 1982. She is survived by four children, Laurie (Ralph) Button, Larry (Dilya), David (Linda), and Jeff (Linda); eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Doris Hixson; and her very best friend, Molly Davenport, with whom she spent several years working together at the hospital and many years since in friendship. In addition to her parents and husband, Edie was preceded in death by siblings Clara, Wally, Gordon Jr., Harvey and Richard.

The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday August 10th, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 4443 East Seneca Road, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at the church.
