Ella H. Blovsky

Ella H. Blovsky died on March 25, 2023, at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca, at the age of 97. The daughter of immigrant parents, Henry and Jennie Blovsky, Ella grew up in Newfield on Blovsky Hill Road. As the youngest of her family, she is predeceased by her parents and all her siblings, Henry, Jr.; Lillian; Jennie; Frank; Anne; and Carrie. She is also predeceased by her lifelong best friend and companion, Vivian Leonard.

Ella had a long career as a secretary. She started in 1943 with GLF in Ithaca. When GLF merged with two other farm cooperatives forming Agway, she moved to Fayetteville to work out of the Dewitt headquarters. During Ella’s 43-year career with the company, she was secretary to the Director of Membership, Director of Farm Planning, and President of Agway Insurance. She completed her career as the secretary to the Vice President of Personnel.

Over the years, Ella and Vivian bowled on leagues, skied (downhill and cross-country), skated, bicycled, swam (Green Lakes State Park being a favorite of theirs), hiked, and traveled extensively. They were active participants with the Central NY Folksmarch organization, collecting an extensive assortment of Folksmarch pins. They were also long-time members of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church.

Ella is survived by several nieces and nephews from the Blovsky family and two nieces and a nephew from Vivian’s family.

Per Ella’s wishes there will be no calling hours or service. Donations in Ella’s memory can be made to the Fayetteville United Methodist Church, 601 E. Her niece, Sue, would like to thank the staff at Evergreen House, her last home, for the loving care they gave Ella over the past three years. You are all angels and you became part of our extended family. Thank you too, to the Hospicare staff for seeing Ella through her final days.
