Ernest Eugene Zimmerman

Ernest Eugene Zimmerman of Trumansburg passed away at Robert Packer Hospital on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the age of 58.

He was born in Ephrata, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1963, a son to Eugene H. and Thelma (Hostetter) Zimmerman. He graduated from Elizabethtown High School and attended Millersville University, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Ernest worked at the Zeager’s Sawmill throughout college and eventually began working in software engineering at R.P. Solutions in Ithaca and most recently Lockheed Martin in Owego.

He loved working in his garden, hiking, and riding his beloved motorcycle. A Christian, Ernest was called to work in prison ministry for several years in the We Care Program in Alabama. His love for the Lord was shown through his musical gifts as a bass and guitar player. He was an active member of Agape Bible Church serving as an elder, worship leader, and board member.

Most of all, Ernie loved his family. He is survived by his children, Judah and Ella Zimmerman; parents, Eugene and Thelma Zimmerman; brothers, Earl (Miriam), Ray (Esther), and Michael (Cheryl) Zimmerman; grandmother, Laura Zimmerman; mother of his children, Kimberly L. Pollack; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Agape Bible Church, 264 Applegate Road South, Ithaca. A Funeral Service will be held privately. A Memorial Service open to the public will be announced at a later date.
