Gary M. Smith

Gary M. Smith, age 54, lifetime resident of Trumansburg, died Friday, September 24, 2022 at Cayuga Medical Center, following several years of ongoing cancer treatments.

Born in Ithaca on October 6, 1967, Gary was the son of the late Ronald and Joyce (nee Kastenhuber) Clark. He started working as a carpenter at age 16, working for Cardamone Home Builders and Perfect Painters-Heritage Builders. He was well skilled in all aspects of carpentry construction.

Gary is survived by his wife, Robin Washburn; his children, Brandon T. Washburn and Brittany (Paul) Lund, and grandchildren, Austin Wasburn, Clark, Tanner and Savannah Lund – all of Trumansburg; his siblings, Kalvin Smith of Ithaca, DJ Clark of Concord NC, and Tonia Brammer of Paducah KY, several nieces and nephews, and his lifelong partner in crime, Dougie Scoffield, whom he grew up with on the corner of Hayts and Van Dorn Corner roads. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Clark.
