Jane E. Penrose

Jane E. Penrose of Trumansburg passed away on at Cayuga Medical Center after a brief illness on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the age of 82.

Jane was born in Staunton, Virginia on April 19, 1940. Her love of travel began at a young age when she traveled to Italy and around Europe. She worked in the travel industry a majority of life, living in Aruba for several years and then Miami where she worked in group sales for Carnival Cruise Lines. Jane managed many tours with many different groups traveling with people throughout Europe and the Caribbean.

Jane was a Grassroots activist for several different causes throughout her life. While living in Miami she helped Cuban refugees and worked with Stamp Out Starvation. After moving to the Finger Lakes, Jane became active in local issues including the ban on construction of a nuclear power plant and anti-fracking demonstrations in the area. 

Jane is survived by three daughters, Ara Karlberg, Tracey (Michael) Jimenez, and Jennifer (Mark) Johnson; three grandchildren, Morgan Williams, Riley Rice, and Julia Jimenez; grand granddaughter, Ella Peterson; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Penrose; and father, John Ferrin.
