Jolene L. (West) Swick

Jolene L. Swick, 79, of Trumansburg, NY died on September 10, 2021 at Cayuga Medical Center after a long illness.  She was the youngest child of Martin G. West, Sr. and Alma (Clark) West, born February 13, 1942 in Valois, NY. She married Carlton Swick on October 3, 1959 in Burdett, NY, nearly sixty-two years ago.

She worked as an inspector of elections for Schuyler County for thirty years. She also worked at McDonalds in Ithaca for eleven years, where she made many long lasting friendships. She was well known for always being ready with a joke to tell, for the perpetual calendars she hand-crafted, and for making a great pan of lasagna.

She was predeceased by her parents, a granddaughter Melissa Swick, her brothers Mervin West, Marty West and Ray West, and her sister Stella Hover, as well as brothers-in-law Robert Hover, Curtis Switzer and Lou Arthur Stilwell and sisters-in-law Mary Louise (Swick) Stilwell and Sylvia West.

 She is survived by her husband, her daughter Carlene Swick, her sons Russell Swick, Randall Swick, Dana Swick, and Alan Swick, all of Trumansburg; by grandchildren Christopher Swick, Austin Swick, and Harlie Swick, and Timothy Poley, as well as several great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley West, Connie West, and Alma Switzer as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5 Bradley Street, Trumansburg, where she was a long-time member, with Pastor Timothy Hamilton officiating. Friends and family may call from 11:00 am -12:00 noon, the funeral service will follow directly thereafter at Noon.
