June C. Ploss of Trumansburg passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the age of 85.
June was born in Seneca Falls, NY on December 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Howard R. and Martha (nee Dunham) Carpenter. A high school graduate who spent many years working at the Cornell Agriculture College in Ithaca, June most loved spending time with her family and was always up for a singalong around the piano. She will always be remembered for the epic Christmas parties she and her husband, Bob, hosted where as many as 120 people would gather to sing Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. June’s piano playing services were enjoyed by the community at weddings, funerals and Sunday services for more than 60 years. June was also a fan of the theater and enjoyed any chance to take in a show, most recently anything involving Trumansburg’s Encore Players.
June’s other favorite past time was being ‘Gma’ to her beloved grandsons and supporting their interests and activities.
June is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Ploss; their children, Robin (Alice) Ploss, Timothy (Rhea Nowak) Ploss and Sarah (Lap Wong) Ploss; grandchildren, Christopher (Sally Vann) Ploss, Nathan and Matthew Ploss; sister, Martha (David) Bush and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her three brothers, John, James and Fred Carpenter.
A Celebration of June's life will be held at the North Pavilion at Taughannock Falls State Park on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Come anytime from 5:30-7:30 pm and share reminiscences with our family and friends, sandwiches, salad and drinks will be provided.
