Marcia Jean Vann

Marcia Jean Vann, 67, of Trumansburg, New York passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 23, 2020.

Marcia was born in Buffalo, NY on December 9, 1952, daughter of the late John and Dorothy Blatner. She married the love of her life, Jeff Vann, on June 27, 1981 and together they raised 3 children.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jeff Vann; three children, Emily (Edwin) Foster, Jeremy (Christina) Vann, and James (Kristen) Vann; two grandsons, Paul and Matt Foster; siblings, Donna Hughey, William Blatner, Elizabeth Fernandez, Jane Thompson, and Peter Blatner; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents John and Dorothy Blatner; step father Emil Laco; and brothers in law, Jay Gleason and Chris Vann.

Marcia dedicated a large portion of her life to helping others. She worked as a counselor with Alpha House and volunteered as an EMT for the Trumansburg Fire Department, before settling into her career of 25 years at Racker. There, she accomplished much as the Senior Team Director, earning the Inspiration Award for loyalty, dedication, and team leadership.

Marcia enjoyed spending her time in Florida, walking the beaches, and collecting shells with her husband. She loved being outside in her garden, perch fishing at the cottage, and collecting pens and ceramic eggs. Some of her favorite memories include visiting her family in Western New York and spending the weekends with her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the providers and nurses of Cayuga Hematology Oncology Associates, the Cancer Research Center of Ithaca, and Hospice Lifetime Care of Newark for their patient centered care and compassion.

In keeping with Marcia’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
