Margaret W. "Peg" (Weaver) Slocum

Margaret W. “Peg” Slocum, formerly of Trumansburg, moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Canandaigua three years ago.  She passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the age of 95.

She was born in Ithaca on February 8, 1927; the only daughter of the late James E. And Elvira (nee Donatelli) Weaver.  She and her brother Ivan grew up on a farm and attended a one room school house before entering Ithaca High School.  She continued on to Rochester to become a registered nurse.  While getting her degree she met her future husband Clem Slocum. For many years Peg and Clem lived in Syracuse, raising their 5 children.  In 1970 they moved to Trumansburg, where Peg continued her nursing career.  She travelled the world.  Peg had a lot to give and upon her retirement she stayed very active with the Gemm Shop, Taughannock Garden Club, Book Club, Ithaca’s Womens Club, the Ulysses Philomathic Library, the Costume Bureau, the Auxiliary at the Racker Center and her beloved United Methodist Church.

Peg is survived by her children, James (Cheryl) Slocum, Roxanne (J.Dana) Smith, Thomas (Susan) Slocum, Terrence (Mary Beth) Slocum; 29 grandchildren (spouses included); 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Clement C. Slocum Jr. and her son, Clement C. Slocum III ( Skip), his wife Margaret (Marge), and her older brother Ivan Weaver.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, 80 E. Main Street, Trumansburg.  A reception will follow. Burial will be held privately for family.
