Raymond "Dean" Hendrix Obituary

Raymond Dean Hendrix, age 59, passed away on June 7, 2022 at Cayuga Medical Center.

Dean was born in Ithaca, NY on June 21, 1962, a son of the late Gordon and June (Ike) Hendrix. Dean was an active member of the South Seneca Sportsmen’s Club and the Lake County Horsemen’s Association. He worked for 35 plus years with NYS DOT in Waterloo, NY before his retirement.

Dean was known for his quiet manner, his sarcastic smirk, and love of his family. He was an avid Raiders fan, worked with the NASCAR Busch North Series as a pit crew member, enjoyed hunting, loved his dogs and horses, and appreciated traveling to Maine each fall to bring home his prized lobsters.

Dean is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Leslie Hendrix; daughter, Amie (Jamie Wech) Hendrix; siblings, Gail Hendrix, Lois Hendrix, Dale “Buzz” (Lynn) Hendrix, Joan (Scott Smith) Hendrix; sister and brothers-in-law, Deborah (Jim) Wage, William (Becky) Kastenhuber, Brain Kastenhuber; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard “Skip” Hendrix and his niece Stacy Hendrix.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at South Seneca Sportsmen Club, 6894 Yarnell Rd, Ovid, NY 14521, on Saturday June 11, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m., with remarks of remembrance at 3:30 p.m.
