Richard “Rick” James Ostrander of Newfield passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the age of 65.

Rick was born in Montour Falls on March 29, 1956, a son of the late Robert Taylor and Austa Anne (Vankirk) Ostrander. He was the class clown and remained a jokester throughout his entire life. Rick moved to Florida for many years working construction before returning back to Newfield. A true craftsman, Rick could build or fix just about anything. He was very proud of his tractor and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Rick is survived by his partner, Linda Johnson; daughter, Sara (Trevor) Ostrander and her mother, Cheryl Kim; step children, Katie (Nate) Scheer and their children Isaac and Carson, and Jeffrey Crosier and his children Hannah and Maddy; brother, Robert “Bobby” (Patty) Ostrander; and a special niece Christina Glaster.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his hospice nurses, Kimmy and Nicole.

In keeping with Rick’s wishes there will be no public services.
