William J. Murawski of Trumansburg, New York entered into heaven on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Bill was born in Bristol, Connecticut on July 13, 1938 the oldest son of the late Alexander and Flora (Machetti) Murawski. He was the beloved husband of Sheila Ryan and together they moved to Trumansburg in 2021 from Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they lived for over 30 years.
He graduated from Kettering University, formerly General Motors Institute, in 1960 as a mechanical engineer. Bill worked as a Senior Engineer and Sale Representative in the bearing industry for various companies including New Departure, Ina, Cooper Bearing, and Rosemount Aerospace. During his career he moved to Connecticut, Wisconsin, Texas, and Massachusetts.
Bill was a loving, gentle man of few words but loving presence. He was a loving husband and father. Bill was an avid gardener, rebuilt several VW bugs, built one of his own homes, and loved to refinish furniture. He enjoyed flea markets and yard sales and was an avid collector of many things. Bill loved animals and he and Sheila always had cats and dogs in their home together. He sent many beloved pets to the rainbow bridge and always buried any fallen wildlife in his yard. Bill leaves behind two standard poodles, Gus and Fenway; and two cats, Anna Grace and Sophia.
Bill was a gentle, strong man who was dearly loved by his wife and family. He will be remembered for his golden smile and gentle blues eyes.
He was the father of three daughters with his first wife, Sharon Holliday; and is survived by daughters, Julie (Paul) Barbato, Laurie Mathews, and Lisa Murawski-Dupont; five grandchildren, Melissa Villamaino, Jessica Fall, Aaron Mathews, and Jacob and Julia Monsini; and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in law, Kevin Dupont; sister, Diane Leghorn; and brothers, Edward and Daniel Murawski.
Bill’s family is grateful to the loving kindness and care he received at Brookdale Memory Care, Cayuga Ridge, and Cayuga Medical Center. In remembrance of Bill donations can be directed to the Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850, for in Bill’s life warm paws were always welcome.
